Following 11/1 and 13/2 places yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Thursday 9th August. P&L +113.96pts.
2:00 Brighton- King Crimson 11/10 (3pt)
King Crimson has won all of his three starts over this C&D off marks of 71, 79 and 80 in the past. He had dropped down a mark of 63 earlier this season but after a 2nd place finish at Chelmford, King Crimson got himself back in the winner’s enclosure with a victory at Bath off a mark of 65. He then finished 2nd twice off marks of 68 at Ripon and Bath before winning at Leicester off a mark of 72 a couple of months ago.
King Crimson runs here off a mark of 76 but he could still be well handicapped given his previous C&D victories off marks of 79 and 80.
4:10 Haydock-Under The Covers 5/2 (1pt)
Under The Covers won a Class 2 Handicap at Glorious Goodwood last week impressively and should be hard to beat under a 6lb penalty. That took her record to 5-16 which is good for a sprinter and she has been given an official mark of 97 after that run meaning that she is 3lb well in for this race (running off 94).
Under The Covers has shown her best form over 5f but she was staying on really well last time that this step up to 6f should suit and she should prove hard to beat. The Ronald Harris stable is currently operating at a 30% strike rate too and hopefully she can continue the good run of form.
