After 13/8 (4pt) and 5/6 (3pt) winners and a 9/1 short head second yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Thursday 5th October. Oct P&L +15.00pts
4:45 Huntingdon- Shrubland 3/1 (1pt)
Shrubland is 2/2 since joining the Dan Skelton and attempts to make it a hat trick off a mark of 100 compared to 82 on his penultimate start. He has stayed on well in his wins around 2 miles so the step up to 2m3f should suit. He is quite an idle horse when he hits the front and therefore the retention of blinkers is a must but that may also mean that he can remain ahead of the handicapper. He has only won by ¾ length and a neck and therefore may have been let off lightly by the handicapper. Despite not winning for Alexandra Dunn, he did run well off marks as high as 106 so he could still have room for improvement off today’s mark of 100.
5:35 Lingfield- Burren View Lady 10/1 (1pt ew)
Burren View Lady is of great interest back on the AW in the UK. Irish trainer Denis Hogan has a fantastic record with 3 winners from 6 runners in the last 5 years, with a £5.88 profit from a £1 stake. Her form is inconsistent but her record on the AW in the UK when having blinkers and a tongue tie applied is fantastic (211). She appeared out of form coming into the race at Lingfield when winning in April and hopefully it will be the same again today. She opened at 7/1 that day and was well backed into 11/4 favourite at the off and therefore the opening SP of 10/1 shouldn’t put you off. Hopefully with conditions back in her favour she can bounce back to form at a double figure price.
