Following 9/4 and 13/8 winners from two runners yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Thursday 21st February. P&L +25.80pts.
4:00 Huntingdon- Clondaw Castle EVENS (3pt)
Clondaw Castle has progressed with every start over fences and got off the mark at Leicester last time in a three runner race. His target this season is the Close Brothers Handicap Chase at Cheltenham so he will need to win to get into that race and that makes him a confident selection for this race.
Clondaw Castle looked progressive last season over hurdles when beating the now 159 rated Global Citizen and now he needs to win this race to get into his target, he should be hard to beat.
8:25 Chelmsford- Gabrial’s Kaka 22/1 (1pt ew)
Gabrial’s Kaka runs in a Class 6 handicap for the first time in his career off a mark of 65 in a 0-65. He was rated 103 at his peak in 2014 but has shown good recent form with a victory at Chester in July off a mark of 70 and a second place off 73.
Gabrial’s Kaka is a previous C&D winner on his only visit to Chelmsford so it looks significant they bring him back now dropped into the weakest race of his career.
