After a 7/2 (10p Rule 4) 2pt win yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Thursday 17th August. P&L +0.69pts
6:00 Yarmouth- Whosyourhousemate 7/2 (1pt)
Whosyourhousemate is the most unexposed runner in the lineup having had only three previous runs. He finished 3rd at 50/1 on his debut before winning a maiden at Southwell on his second start. He then finished 3rd in a handicap over a mile on his reappearance and runs here off the same mark. His last run was on soft ground but the step up to 1m1f on good ground looks like it will bring improvement out of him. Ed Vaughan is in good form with 3 winners from his last 9 runners, including a handicap winner for the owners last week. With lots of the runners in the field looking exposed, Whosyourhousemate is open to more improvement than most and the fact he runs off the same mark as his reappearance gives confidence that he will go close.
7:10 Leopardstown- Morando 5/2 (2pt)
Morando has won 4/6 races in his career so far including a listed win on his reappearance this season. The form of this race has since been boosted with Stormy Antarctic and So Beloved (2nd and 4th) finishing placed in a Group 2 at the Curragh. The 3rd in that race, Here Comes When, won the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on his next start so the form of this listed win looks fantastic for the grade. Although the Roger Varian stable has looked out of form recently, his form of 4 year old turf runners in Ireland in the last 5 seasons is 3 winners from 9 runners with a profit of +£13.50 from a £1 stake. True Valour (1st), Sea Wolf (2nd) and Alexios Komnenos (3rd) come from the same listed race at the Curragh but Morando is clear on ratings and should improve his trainer’s record in Ireland.
