Thursday 12th October Horse Racing Tips

Following a 5/1 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder has three confident selections for racing on Thursday 12th October. October P&L +27.60 pts.

3:40 Thurles- Mullinavat 5/6 (3pt)

Mullinavat is a short price for this race but I thought he would be a lot shorter so I have to tip him at close to even money. He is more known as a chaser and is rated 119 over fences but took advantage of his hurdles handicap mark last time by winning off a mark of 86 by 23 lengths. The handicapper has raised him 20lb as a result of this victory but he runs in this race off a 6lb penalty so he technically is 14lb well in. As a result he should prove very difficult to beat and is a confident selection.

4:45 Thurles- Swingbridge 10/3 (5pt)

Swingbridge was bought for £5500 in June and has won all three starts for Gordon Elliott since. He won over hurdles by 10 lengths off a mark of 86 before two victories over fences off ratings of 97 and 107. He is now rated 118 over fences but can run in this hurdles race off a rating of 99. He looks worth keeping onside for new connections until beaten and the fact he runs over hurdles off a rating 18lb lower than fences mean that he should prove hard to beat. If he was to meet second favourite Open To The World over fences Swingbridge would have to give him 13lb but as it a hurdles race Swingbridge actually receives 8lb from Open To The World. That 21lb swing shows how much Swingbridge is suited by the conditions of the race and therefore is a confident selection.

7:15 Chelmsford- Boynton 5/4 (2pt)

Boynton has top class 2 year old form and runs here escaping a penalty for his Group 2 win last season. That victory in the Superlative Stakes over War Decree means that Boynton has an official rating of 113. That puts him 6lb clear of the field on ratings from Red Verdon and 8lb higher than Victory Bond. He gets a 3 year old weight allowance in this race so receives 4lb from his elders and therefore means he should prove hard to beat. Despite this being his first start for 443 days, Charlie Appleby has a fantastic record with horses on debut and off a break and is currently 10-24 runners (42% strike rate). Boynton should prove a class above these out of form rivals and set him up for a race at the Breeders Cup.
