Following a 14/1 winner and an 8/1 place yesterday, Steve Ryder bids to keep his fantastic run going with three tips on Sunday 8th October. All tips were posted last night on SteveRyder13 at the prices quoted. October P&L +25.70pts.
2:35 Navan- Gobi Desert 5/1 (0.5pt ew)
Following an impressive debut in a strong maiden that has worked out well, Gobi Desert was sent off 8/11 for a listed race at Fairyhouse. He ran well but finished second to the much more experienced Brick By Brick. With that run under his belt I think that Gobi Desert can reverse form with that rival and it appears that Colin Keane is of the same opinion. He is head to head with Pat Smullen for the jockeys championship and he chooses Gobi Desert over Blue Uluru who beat Brick By Brick last time. This looks another strong listed race but I think Gobi Desert can improve past more experienced rivals.
2:55 Uttoxeter- Whos My Jockey 11/4 (1pt)
Whos My Jockey is closely related to the amazing Hurricane Fly who showed plenty of ability when winning a Market Rasen bumper on debut back in April. He beat an experienced rival into second that day and the third, Counter Shy, won a maiden hurdle on his next start impressively. Counter Shy beat Banditry easily by 2 lengths that day and he subsequently bolted up by nearly 3 lengths on his start after. That gives a lot of substance to the form of Whos My Jockey’s bumper win and he should have too much speed for the impressive PTP winner Palmers Hill.
5:15 Navan- Snow Falcon 14/1 (1pt ew)
Snow Falcon is a top class staying hurdler who won the Grade 2 Lismullen Hurdle at Navan last season. On ratings he still looks well handicapped on the flat compared to his hurdles mark despite being raised 9lb for his victory on his return to the flat on his penultimate start. He made all that day and won comfortably by 2 ¾ lengths and as a result was sent off 3/1 favourite for a handicap at Leopardstown last time. That was his fourth start at the venue without a win and he also wasn’t able to lead over 1m4f so he can be forgiven that run. He now steps up to 2 miles at a venue where he has form figures of 23111 and has the services of Colin Keane who is operating at a strike rate of nearly 20% at the moment. Bookmakers are offering 6 places on the race so make sure that you shop around for best terms.
