Following a 17/2 place yesterday, Steve Ryder previews three races on Sunday 21st April. P&L +21.91pts.
2:20 Fairyhouse- Avellino 11/1 (0.5pt ew)
Avellino was a high class bumper mare who took a little while to put it all together over hurdles having changed trainers. Now back with Dermot McLoughlin she got off the mark over hurdles at Ballinrobe before finishing 6th in a listed race on her next start.
Avellino has been off since so it can be assumed that she suffered a setback in the race and she now makes her handicap debut off a mark of 116. Connections have booked Robbie Power for the ride so a big run can be expected and with five places on offer, she should be in the frame.
2:50 Fairyhouse- Honeysuckle 15/8 (3pt)
Honeysuckle bids to defend her unbeaten record on her return since missing Cheltenham with a setback. She won a PTP impressively on her debut before winning a maiden hurdle over this C&D. She has since won a listed race and a Grade 3 at the course where she won easily by 6 lengths.
Henry De Bromhead issued a positive update in the build up to the this race so if she is over her setback then Honeysuckle should prove extremely hard to beat.
3:25 Plumpton- Brandon Castle 5/1 (1pt ew)
Brandon Castle has made a fantastic transition to hurdling and should make a bold bid from the front over a C&D he is 3-3 over. He disappointed in the Grade 1 Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham but that can be forgiven as he now drops into handicap company off a mark of 139.
Connections have booked the talented Rex Dingle to take off a further 5lb in this race and with four places on offer, Brandon Castle should be hard to catch.
