Steve Ryder previews two races at Epsom on Sunday 1st October following a profitable end to September yesterday. With 5/1 and 11/4 winners yesterday the article ends with a September P&L of +12.11pts.
2:40 Epsom- The Revenant 15/8 (4pt) *price when posted on twitter
There was plenty of talk about The Revenant before his debut at Haydock a couple of weeks ago and despite only winning by ¾ of a length, he went straight into my notebook. He was slightly slowly away but travelled well in midfield before making his challenge 2f out. He came between two experienced horses and was strong at the finish under only a hands and heels ride. The second that day, Global Conqueror, finished a close second in a strong nursery handicap at Newmarket on Thursday so the form looks strong. His market rival is Dee Ex Bee who I tipped on debut and last time but he has been disappointing on his last two starts. I hope The Revenant will prove to be a better horse than Dee Ex Bee and also receives 2lb from that rival in this race.
4:20 Epsom- C’Est No Mour 3/1 (0.5pt ew)
C’Est No Mour bids for a unique hattrick at the track having won the Amateur Rider’s Derby and Jump Jockey’s Derby and attempts to win the Apprentices’ Derby here. All the races have been over 1m4f and he runs here off a mark of 85, compared to the marks of 78 and 81 he won off earlier this season. He has the top apprentice Kieran Shoemark on board in this race and hopefully he can use his C&D experience in this race. Despite being 3/1, I think he is worth backing him each way as the handicapper may have caught up to him and but looks sure to run his race. Some bookmakers are offering 4 places on the race so make sure you shop around.
