Following 10/1 and 7/2 winners yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Sunday 19th May. P&L +61.73pts.
4:20 Ripon- Gurkha Friend 5/1 (1pt ew)
Gurkha Friend has won this race for the last two seasons off marks of 90 and 83 and runs in it this year off a mark of 89. He has had the same preparation as last season when down the field at Newcastle but now returns to his favoured track and will no doubt return to front running tactics.
The one negative today is that Silvestre De Sousa isn’t on board but Gurkha Friend should still have a big chance at a track where he is 4-7.
4:45 Stratford- Exitas 4/1 (1pt)
Exitas was in good form last season when he won a Veterans’ Handicap Chase off a mark of 137 by 10 lengths meaning he contested his next start off a mark of 147. He has gradually dropped down the weights to a mark of 130 but switches back to running over hurdles here off a much reduced mark.
Exitas runs here off a mark of 115 which is 15lb lower than over fences and if this 11 year old retains any of his old ability then he should prove hard to beat with Lorcan Williams taking off a further 5lb.
