Following two disappointments yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Sunday 17th March. P&L +10.93pts.
3:50 Carlisle- Houblon Des Obeaux 3/1 (1pt)
Houblon Des Obeaux isn’t the force of old when rated in 160s but remains competitive in big handicaps off marks in the 140s. He won a Veterans’ Chase last year off a mark of 141 and won another in January off a mark of 135. 15 days ago he ran well to finish 3rd at Newbury in another Veterans’ Chase when only beaten 4 lengths at the finish.
Houblon Des Obeaux faces Jepeck who went up 17lb for a victory at Ffos Las in November but was flattered at the finish and looks a vulnerable favourite for the race.
4:50 Limerick- Dakota Moirette 2/1 (1pt)
Dakota Moirette is yet to win over fences in eight attempts but looks to have found a golden opportunity to get off the mark in this race. He has run well in competitive handicaps and found 2m5f too far at Leopardstown last time when finishing 4th. Mall Dini is the favourite for the race but is only 2-23 in his career and yet to win over fences and won’t be suited by the drop back to 2m1f.
This looks a weak race but a good opportunity for Dakota Moirette to get off the mark over fences and should be involved at the finish.
