After a poor Aintree Festival, Steve Ryder bids to bounce back on Sunday 15th April. P&L +7.35pts.
3:20 Plumpton- Nesterenko 16/1 (0.5pt ew)
Nesterenko is well handicapped on old form and with the yard in flying form I think he is worth chancing at a big price. He won a handicap hurdle in March 2016 at Taunton off a mark of 129 and then followed up in May 2016 off a mark of 130. He then went novice chasing last season but returned to hurdles for his reappearance this season. He disappointed that day but the yard were out of form and he now gets to run in this race off a mark of 124. Venetia Williams has had 8 winners from her last 25 runners (32% SR) and as a result Nesterenko is worth backing each way in a poor race with four places on offer
3:55 Plumpton- Achille 7/2 (0.5pt ew)
Achille has only ran five times since joining Venetia Williams from France in 2015 but looks really well handicapped based on old form. He was rated 128 on his first run in the UK and only went off 11/2 that day. He was sent off favourite for his next two starts after where he could only finish 5th both times but he has dropped in the weights as a result. Achille ran his best race for her 18 days ago when finishing runner up at Wincanton on heavy ground off a mark of 112. He runs in the race off the same mark and as previously documented, Venetia Williams is back in flying form with a 32% SR. He looks the most likely winner ahead of favourite Indian Castle who hasn’t won since January 2014.
