Following a 7/1 (2pt ew) winner with William Henry in the Lanzarote Hurdle yesterday, and an 11/4 winner at Wetherby, Steve Ryder previews two races at Southwell on Sunday 14th January. Jan P&L+6.10pts.
2:25 Southwell- Pearl Acclaim 7/1 (0.5pt ew)
Pearl Acclaim won twice over C&D in December off marks of 59 and 65 before a close second off a mark of 71. He then struggled back on the AW at Newcastle off a mark of 73 but returns to his favoured C&D off the same mark. He faces a couple of C&D winners in this race but looks sure to go well under conditions we know suit.
3:25 Southwell- Meandmyshadow 7/1 (0.5pt ew)
For a horse who has ran 119 times, it is amazing that Meandmyshadow hadn’t ran at Southwell until three starts ago. She seems to be well suited by the course as she finished 3rd over 6f off a mark of 62 and then repeated that off a mark of 61 next time. When upped to 7f last time she won off a mark of 60 by a short head. She has only gone up 2lb for that victory but that is still a mark that she hasn’t been down to since 2012. She faces Declamation who has won twice in a row at the course but runs off a mark 12lb higher here. Meandmyshadow looks sure to be involved at the finish and is worth a bet each way.
