Following a disappointing day yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races from Punchestown on Sunday 10th February. P&L +25.51pts.
1:45 Punchestown- Ballycasey 3/1 (1pt)
Ballycasey has been a high class horse in the past with a Grade 1 victory and multiple Grade 2 wins over the years. He is now a 12 year old and connections have decided to switch him to running in Cross Country Chases this season where he received a nice introduction in December. He was held up in the rear throughout that day but made good late headway to finish 5th at the finish.
Ballycasey has been over to school at Cheltenham in January once again and with that added experience he can win this en route to festival glory.
2:50 Punchestown- Young Ted 13/2 (0.5pt ew)
Young Ted won a Thurles bumper by 14 lengths last season before looking outpaced in the Grade 1 bumper here when he finished 6th. He has run well in both starts over hurdles so far, finishing a staying on 4th over 2 miles at Navan before finishing 3rd only beaten 3 lengths at Naas last time over 2m3f.
Young Ted steps up in trip again slightly to 2m4f which looks sure to suit and he can run well each way in this open looking maiden hurdle.
