Steve Ryder previews three races on Saturday 30th September after a couple of disappointing well backed runners yesterday. Sept P&L +8.36pts.
3:55 Market Rasen- Red Tornado 9/2 (1pt ew)
I tipped Red Tornado when he finished second in the Summer Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen behind John Constable last time. He ran in that race off a mark of 130 and has been raised 2lb as a result. This race is over the same C&D as last time but Dan Skelton has booked the brilliant 7lb claimer James Bowen to ride. Dan Skelton is operating at a 24% strike rate at present and a chance is taken on him each way (you can get 4 places with some bookermakers) in an open race.
5:20 Newmarket- Makzeem 9/2 (0.5pt ew)
Makzeem is a model of consistency at Newmarket with form figures of 2nd (87), 1st (88) and 2nd (94). Despite running in this off a mark of 97, he looks to have a good chance with Ryan Moore booked for the ride. He is drawn in 17 which looks a good draw for the race with lots of pace drawn high and he should be bang there in a race where you can get 4 places again.
5:55 Chester- Brandon Castle 9/4 (1pt)
Brandon Castle is 3-4 since joining Archie Watson and is always a prominent racer in his races. That is a huge plus at Chester and he is drawn to attach from Stall 5 in this race. He has been raised 10lb for his victory last time but he did win by 11 lengths so he probably deserved that. Andrew Mullen managed to steal a 20 length lead at by halfway last time and hopefully he can get an easy lead again at a track where it pays to.
