Following a 4/1 place yesterday, Steve Ryder previews four races on Saturday 25th May. P&L +56.58pts.
1:55 Goodwood- Extra Elusive 11/2 (0.5pt ew)
Extra Elusive won on his only start as a two year old and looked progressive last season. He has ran well on his two starts this season with a second place in a listed race on the AW before a career best when third in the Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown.
Extra Elusive faces nothing of the quality of Crystal Ocean in this race and this lightly raced four year old can win this listed race in first time blinkers.
3:35 Curragh- Magna Grecia 7/4 (4pt)
Magna Grecia was a rare debut winner for Aidan O’Brien last season when he won by 3 ½ lengths on debut before bumping into the French 2000 Guineas winner Persian King in the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket. Despite having only made his debut less than a month before the Group 1 Vertem Futurity Stakes at Doncaster, connections decided to supplement Magna Grecia for the race which he won by a head at the finish.
Magna Grecia followed the usual pattern for Aidan O’Brien 2000 Guineas horses when he went straight to Newmarket and he was ultra impressive winning by 2 ½ lengths at the finish. He faces Too Darn Hot in this race who had an interrupted preparation before his defeat in the Dante Stakes and I would be worried about him returning quickly after only nine days. Magna Grecia is the pick on the form showed this season and he can give Aidan O’Brien his 8th win in the last 12 years.
4:25 Cartmel- West Wizard 8/1 (0.5pt ew)
West Wizard won in September off the back of a break and looks to have a good chance of doing that again after 128 days off. He won last season off a mark of 106 before later finishing 2nd off a mark of 112.
West Wizard makes his return off a mark of 110 so he looks well handicapped and he should run well.
5:15 Chester- Heart Of Soul 4/1 (1pt)
Heart Of Soul was an impressive winner at Chester earlier this month when making all over this C&D off a mark of 78. He has been raised 6lb for that effort but that looks deserved and he is well drawn to attack from Stall 1.
Heart Of Soul won last time on heavy ground but has ran well on quick ground in the past and if the visor works for the second time then he should prove hard to peg back.
