Following a blank day yesterday, Steve Ryder previews four races on Saturday 23rd February. P&L +26.80pts.
1:50 Kempton- Secret Investor 13/8 (3pt)
Paul Nicholls has won this race 10 times in the last 13 years and has a great chance of improving that record with Secret Investor this year. He won the Grade 2 Persian War Novices’ Hurdle last year and has made a good transition to chasing so far. Connections ran Secret Investor in a Grade 2 on debut when Bags Groove beat him by 9 lengths but it was that rivals third start that day. They renew rivalry with a 5lb swing in Secret Investor’s favour and given the red hot form of the Nicholls stable he is a confident selection.
3:05 Chepstow- Jammin Masters 6/4 (1pt)
Jammin Masters has finished 2nd on all three starts over fences so far but a repeat of any of those performances will be enough to win this contest. Chef Des Obeaux looked a high class novice hurdler but has lost his form with recent form of PP3U. On his last completed start he achieved an RPR of 133 whereas Jammin Masters has achieved RPRs of 141, 141 and 138.
Connections of Jammin Masters have booked Richard Johnson for the ride today and he should be able to beat the current odds on favourite if repeating the form of his recent runs.
4:00 Fairyhouse- Magic Of Light 3/1 (3pt)
Magic Of Light looks the solid option in this race given her form this season in comparison with her rivals. She finished 3rd in the Troytown before coming over to the UK to win a listed chase and a Group 2 hurdle before finding another listed chase too short of distance under a penalty last time.
Magic Of Light is back up to 3 miles in this race and with her receiving weight from the field, should prove hard to beat.
4:50 Chepstow- Modeligo 14/1 (0.5pt ew)
Modeligo won this race two seasons ago off a mark of 100 and runs in the race this season off the same mark. He has got his head in front in between with wins off marks of 106, 99 and 106 and also placed off marks of 109 and 107 earlier this season.
Connections have fitted first time blinkers for this race and with Modeligo running back in a 0-100 handicap, he should go well with four places on offer.
