Steve Ryder has seven recommended bets on a busy Saturday of racing on 19th August. Current P&L after a couple of unlucky seconds yesterday is -6.64 pts.
1:45 Curragh- Conquest 7/2 (1pt ew)
Conquest is a beautifully bred sister to Minding who has ran okay in her first two starts for Aidan O’Brien. His two year olds are well known to come on a lot for their debut runs but she missed the break and was too far back at Galway last time to show any improvement. Her stablemate Sizzling was in a similar position in the race and has come out and ran a good race since to show the form of the race is strong. At an e/w price in a maiden with a lack of experienced rivals and with Ryan Moore on board, Conquest rates a confident selection to hit the frame.
2:45 Newmarket- Tommy Taylor 11/2 (1pt ew)
Tommy Taylor was tipped in my article three weeks ago when suffering a horrendous passage over C&D last time. He was travelling best of all entering the final furlong but was badly hampered and was eased after. His previous run when finishing second over C&D gives him a big chance of success off a 5lb higher mark. Kevin Ryan’s stable is still in good form and Tommy Taylor has a good e/w chance in this race.
3:40 Doncaster- Soie D’Leau 5/1 (1pt ew)
Soie D’Leau has been running consistently well all season but hasn’t managed to win so far. He has finished 4th and 3rd off this mark of 92 in his last two runs at Newmarket and Ascot respectively. He won over C&D off a 4lb higher mark last season so with conditions to suit a chance is taken that he can get his head in front in this race. Ladbrokes are offering 4 place terms for this race so I would recommend using them for this race.
4:10 Doncaster- Masham Star 5/1 (1pt ew)
Masham Star is one of the stereotypical Mark Johnston horses who runs every week. He has been running well recently including a close second to a well handicapped rival at Chelmsford on Tuesday. He runs in this race off the same handicap mark of 98 and given that he is a C&D winner, has no issues with the ground, and comes into the race in form, Masham Star looks a solid e/w bet in this race.
4:50 Tramore- Alaykha 5/4 (2pt)
5:20 Tramore- Kalamriyda 7/2 (1pt)
5:50 Tramore- Turnabout 7/4 (2pt)
All three of these selections are trained by Dermot Weld and ridden by Leigh Roche. It has been widely and openly reported that the stable has had a terrible season so far by their standards after having a bug in the yard. They look to have turned a corner in the last week with 5 winners from 21 runners, and it should pay to back his runners before many latch onto this change in stable form. All three are relatively short prices but hopefully tomorrow will reinforce the belief that the stable is worth following over the next month.
