Following a 9/1 place yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Saturday 13th July. P&L +81.96pts.
1:45 Ascot- Tis Marvellous 11/2 (1pt ew)
Tis Marvellous has some brilliant form at Ascot including when fourth in the Pavilion Stakes and sixth in the Commonwealth Cup two seasons ago. Last year he finished fourth in the Wokingham off a mark of 99 before winning over this C&D in the Shergar Cup off a mark of 100.
Tis Marvellous has ran well this season including when second behind Cape Byron in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot off a mark of 101 and he should go extremely well off a 2lb higher mark with up to six places available.
3:30 Newmarket- Ambassadorial 12/1 (0.5pt ew) and Burnt Sugar 12/1 (0.5pt ew)
With five places available in the Bunbury Cup I am going to back two different horses for the race. Burnt Sugar won this race last season off a mark of 99 before following up at Ascot only two weeks later. He was put up to a mark of 105 for those wins where he has slightly struggled but his last two performances can be forgiven as they were on soft and heavy ground. Burnt Sugar runs here off a mark of 102 and with the Roger Fell stable in good form should run well.
The other selection is Ambassadorial who was previously trained by Mick Halford in Ireland but made a winning stable debut for Jane Chapple- Hyam at Chelmsford last month. He was held up that day which is tough to do at the course but he was an easy 3 ½ length winner at the finish. Ambassadorial has been raised 8lb up to a mark of 103 on the AW but gets to run off his turf mark of 90 and could prove chucked in.
