Steve Ryder previews three races on a busy day of racing on Saturday 12th August. P&L +3.39pts
2:40 Redcar Tommy G 10/3 (2pt) *price when tipped on twitter
Tommy G has produced two fantastic performances on his last two starts on soft ground. He finished 3rd in the Lady Amateur Riders handicap on King George day at Ascot and then followed this up with a 2nd place at Goodwood in the Stewards Cup consolation race behind Scorching Heat. He races off only 2lb higher in this race but drops back into a Class 4 handicap. This drop in grade and with soft ground to suit should give Tommy G a good chance of going one better than last time.
3:40 Newmarket- Dance Diva 4/1 (1pt ew)
Throughout the week Dance Diva was trading at about 2/1 for the race but is now readily available at 4/1. This field is full of unexposed, unbeaten fillies but Dance Diva brings the proven form to the race. She was unbeaten until her second place behind Nyaleti in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot. She had previously won a listed race over at this course and has looked like the step up to 7f would suit. She sets a high standard and unless one of the fillies in the field is a superstar, she should go very close.
4:15 Newmarket- Von Blucher 11/2 (1pt ew)
Von Blucher has always been very well backed in handicaps over the past two seasons. He led inside the final furlong last time at York before weakening into 3rd late on. He runs off the same mark in this race back at a course where he has been successful in the past. He has a poor strike rate (2/14) but if PJ McDonald can hold onto him for a bit longer he should have a good chance to add to his tally in this race.
