Following a 6/1 winner on Day 1, Steve Ryder previews the RSA Novices’ Chase on Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival. P&L +9.72pts.
2:10 Cheltenham- Delta Work 9/4 (2pt)
I have long fancied Delta Work for this race and with the fitness worries over Santini he is a confident selection in this race. He has previous festival form having won the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle at the festival last year beating the well handicapped Glenloe and has proved that he is a Grade 1 horse this season with victories in the Drinmore Chase and Neville Hotels Chase. He is unbeaten this season despite running twice over an inadequate distance of 2m4f and a proper test of stamina over 3 miles looks sure to suit.
Delta Work has no question marks to answer in this race in comparison to Santini who pulled off a shoe last week and Topofthegame who hasn’t looked the most willing in the past and only has a race record of 2 wins from 9 runs. It looks between the top three in the market but Delta Work looks the most solid and deserves to go off favourite for the race.
