Pertemps Network Final Betting Preview & Tips

Day 3 – Thursday 12th March 2020 – 2.10pm – Pertemps Final – Listed – 3m

The Pertemps Network Final is a very competitive large field handicap which is run over three miles around the Cheltenham new course. With Irish trainer Gordon Elliott that has trained the winner of the last two editions, it makes sense to keep a close eye on what is going to do this year. Before 2016, this was traditionally a strong race for the home defence.

He was chasing at a very top level last season, and he also contested the America Grand National back in October 2019. At the start of December, he won a handicap at Clonmel and also qualified for this Cheltenham Festival contest by finishing in sixth place at Leopardstown over the Christmas period. In that race, he was also carrying a very bog weight. Surely has what it takes to deliver a great performance at the Festival and looks a valuable pick.

Pertemps Network Final History

The Pertemps Network Final is the second race of the third day of the Cheltenham Festival. It is a handicap race, and it is open to horses that are five or older. It is run over a distance of 3 miles, and there are 12 hurdles that horses have to negotiate along the way.

The race is particularly challenging from a betting point of view, and several outsiders have claimed glory in the last years. Jonjo O’Neill is the most successful trainer having won three times this race. Jockey Jim Wilson is the best jockey having recorded consecutive wins in 1979, 1980 and 1981.
