Old Rowley Cup Odds
The Old Rowley Cup is a popular handicap race that takes place at Newmarket in October. It is run over 1m and 4f, and it is for horses that are three years old. It is part of the Future Champions Day which is one of the last highlights of the Flat horse racing calendar. It tends to attract some of the best young horses, and there is a lot of betting attention with punters keep to close the flat season on a high.
The Old Rowley Cup is a rather new race as it was established in 2014. It takes place on Future Champions Day together with a number of juvenile Group races like the Fillies’ Mile. From a betting perspective, this is a difficult race to call as there are always competitive horses that are battling over 12 furlongs. Considering that the prize fund is close to £100,000, there are always top trainers involved.
On the first edition of this race, Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Farquhar managed to secure a shocking 40/1 win. In that case, he managed to edge out Adventure Seeker by a head proving that this is normally a very close affair. As the Future Champions Day is continuing to increase in popularity, we expect more of the same in the next editions and surely worth looking at the many betting opportunities there.
