As always, there is a great deal of enthusiasm and anticipation as we get ready for another 3 weeks of life-altering runs, shocking losses, and superior arrows.

This year, Michael van Gerwen has won ten PDC tournaments, including the Players Championship, the World Matchplay, and the Premier League. The Green Machine also has the best average for the season, and he thinks he is ready to win a fourth world championship, even though he had to quit his match in the third round of last year’s competition because he was sick.

MvG enters the tournament as the overwhelming favourite, as he has won more titles than anyone else on the tour this year. World No. 1 Gerwyn Price is the second favourite; despite losing his first game of the Players Championship in Minehead last month, he will feel that his game is in excellent shape.  Luke Humphries should be considered because he has won 4 titles on the Euro Tour this year. He had a true breakthrough match at the World Championship last year, in my opinion.

We all knew what he could do by that time, but his performances under pressure, like pinning important doubles when he was down, were sometimes questionable when he competed on the big stage. However, in his victory over Chris Dobey, he demonstrated that he has the maturity, board management skills, and mindset to deal with such challenges in the present. In the last two important competitions, Nathan Aspinall and MvG beat Cool Hand in the semifinals.

Michael Smith finally won the huge TV title that had eluded him and that he had desired for so long at the Grand Slam last month after nine tries and suffering a lot of misery in major finals. This year for Bully Boy had already been incredible before he overcame that obstacle. He has already won six championships and is 4/1 to return for the final two years in a row.

The moment Andy eventually pinned the winning double and fell to his knees in Wolverhampton, I believe the majority of darts fans felt relief. The claims that he had failed to win previous championships were obviously absurd. He often played against motivated opponents who were sometimes impossible to beat, but it looks like he’s finally ready to put those problems behind him. Unbound by the constraints of a nametag that never fit him, he now has what it takes to win multiple major championships.

Many people—including myself—now fully believe that victory will pave the way for the St. Helen’s guy to go on and win more honours. The World Championship finalist from the previous year put on some devastating performances before falling to Peter Wright, and he is 8/1 to win this year. All these players are great options if you’re looking to place bets or are keen to get some additional bets in, but our main tip is for MvG to triumph again here. He is unstoppable right now and has the quality and experience to go all the way, once again!
