Main Bet: Tom Hoge To Win

Tom Hoge is our pick for this week. The American did well in this competition last year, coming in second, and in 2020, he came in sixth.

He also seemed to like the laid-back vibe of pro-ams after winning at Pebble Beach a year ago. He likes playing golf in the desert, as seen by his fourth-place finish at the Shriners Open in Las Vegas in October and his top-15 finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open the year before.

Hoge finished tied for 41st in the Sony Open with two 67s after opening the year with a third-place finish at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Hoge finished first (Sentry TOC) and ninth (Sony) for SG: Approach on the Hawaiian Swing. He is certainly a talent on the rise after concluding last season with a fifth-place finish at the Tour Championship.

Hoge stated last year that he knows the course because they played it in college and also during Q-School, which is why he is confident. He will (hopefully) play two of his four rounds on the Stadium Course. “It battered me up a lot at the beginning of my career, but I’m beginning to feel really at home there.” Although there is a lot going on aesthetically, getting the ball in the fairway plays to my strengths with the iron game and makes me feel at ease, which is the key for me. Sounds good to us, and we are backing him to win here.
