Main Bet: Matthew Jordan
Links expertise will clearly be an advantage at this course. In addition to this skill set resilience would also be critical as it will be freezing and blustery. Matthew Jordan is a 24-year-old Englishman who has practised during his amateur times in links courses. Jordan is a member of the Royal Liverpool and has excellent experience with those type of environment and with the cold and nasty wind that is coming from the Irish Sea. He won the St Andrews Links Trophy back in 2017 and a year late he landed the Lytham Trophy. Since turning pro he has secured an invite to the Dunhill Links where he made the cut and ended tied 32.
In May 2019 he got another invitation on the links and made most of the situation securing a tied 15 in the British Masters. Towards the end of the season, he got the fifth place in the Dunhill Links, being leading after 36 holes.
All considered, he has a great chance in a weakened field to come up on top. His recent form has been excellent as he was third in the Wales Open and was in the top five at halfway in both the UK Championship and the Portugal Masters. He ended in the top 20 in both events. Even if was only tied 52 at Valderrama, he played well, and with favourable conditions this week he is in the perfect position to give it a go.

Each way: Callum Shinkwin
Similarly to our first bet Matthew, another Englishman has attracted our attention in this betting market. He is 27 year old Callum Shinkwin who loves playing in link courses. In 2015 he ended the Challenge Tour with a tied third at Al Mouj. The next summer he secured his first main tour Top 10 at Le Golf National and followed that up a week later at Castle Stuart. A year after he went very close to celebrate his first European Tour win in the Scottish Open at Dundonald Links. Unfortunately for him, on the final day, he lost in the playoff, and since then he has suffered a bit of hangover.
Despite that, he clearly loves seaside golf and has recorded top tens at 13th Beach in Australia and also last year at Dunhill Links. His form is good and played well in Wales only a few weeks ago when he finished tied 11 and eight. In the challenging weather of the Scottish Open a couple of weeks ago, he was in contention and could have finished second. Surely has what it takes to be a protagonist again in those conditions and at this price, he is worthy of an each-way punt.
