Sami Valimaki To Win

£20 bet returns £2,020 with Betvictor

Main Bet: Sami Valimaki

The first selection is Sami Valimaki from Finland who last year announced himself to the golf’s World with an impressive win in the Oman Open after two positive performances in the desert.
Despite the tricky conditions in the final day, he managed to secure a playoff and won in the extra holes.
Since golf returned last year, he has first claimed a sixth place and a second-place on Celtic Manor’s 2010 course and then added a 10th place at Valderrama. Considering the very different conditions of those two courses, he has demonstrated good versatility.

He was also tied 13th on his Wentworth debut and two times went close to win a title in Cyprus. He also delivered an excellent performance in the Golf in Dubai Championship when he finished tied 13th, and was also fifth on debut in the DP World Tour Championship. All in all, very consistent performances from him and it is not surprising that he won the Rookie of the Year award.

He is a player that likes to perform when the wind blows and also the course should suit well as it has a modern design and it is close to the sea. His win in Oman at Al Mouj and the good displays in Wales, Cyprus and Jumeirah all do fit the bill.

He did miss the cut in Abu Dhabi and wasn’t involved in Dubai, but this should be the Desert Swing tournament that should best fit his qualities. At this price, he deserves our trust.

Lucas Herbert (Each-Way) To Win

£20 bet returns £812 with Betvictor

Each Way Bet: Lucas Herbert

Our each-way selection for this tournament is a big hitter and one that has already proven himself to be capable of winning in the Middle East when the wind is blowing. Lucas Herbert’s breakthrough win came at the Dubai Desert Classic the last January and also finished fourth at the Scottish Open.

In that tournament, he made an extraordinary comeback and eventually had to settle for place money. When playing in the warmer wind, he has recorded a third-place at Vendura in the 2018 Sicily Open and also a second place at Dom Pedro in the Portugal Masters. Both courses are by the sea, and he has also done well on his debut on this course with a tied-27th and an opening a 67 and closing at 68. In Abu Dhabi was in a decent position at halfway and finished tied-22. In good form, looks the perfect fit for this week, as he should be in contention.
