Do you remember Istanbul? You probably do. Well, Liverpool would need that kind of spirit, or the one they had in that Barcelona comeback, if they want to overcome a massive 5-2 first-leg defeat suffered a couple of weeks ago against defending champions Real Madrid. It has been a strange season for Liverpool, and that can be seen even from the recent results, with the extraordinary 7-0 win over rivals United followed by the 1-0 dreadful defeat on the South Coast against Bournemouth. Even in the first leg, the Reds were leading 2-0 at Anfield and then collapsed in a way that is beyond reason.

Can the six-time Champions League winners be ruled out? Have we all forgotten they have reached the final in three of the last five seasons? Surely not, so we do expect they will put up a fight tonight at the very least. Here at BettingTips4You, we have picked three selections to form a 21/1 Bet Builder with BetVictor.

Selection 1: Vinicius Junior to score first

So Liverpool have a proper mission impossible on their hands at the Bernabeu tonight. They have no other choice than to go for it from the off, as they would need one or two goals in the first half to have a chance of delivering a ‘miracle’. Realistically tough, with Liverpool forced to go on the attack, there will be opportunities for Los Blancos to score a first goal and virtually finish the job. The Reds have looked shaky at the back this season, and the five goals conceded in the first leg are a demonstration of this.

There is therefore very good value in backing Real Madrid to find the first goal here and going a bit contrary to how bookmakers see the initial flow of the game going. But who will score first? Surely Benzema makes more sense, but Vinicius Jr. looks like a better value option. The Brazilian has been on fire recently, scoring at the weekend against Espanyol and having eight goals in La Liga overall.

It has been in Europe where he has shined the most, as he has netted six times, which also include two goals against Liverpool at Anfield. With six goals scored in his last eight, the winger looks the one capable of taking advantage of a Liverpool side that are all out in attack.

Selection 2: Both Teams To Score

Even if this match follows the script that we are designing and Real Madrid scores first, you might expect the entertainment to continue. The Reds might well be out of the Champions League at the end of the ninety minutes, but they will not do so without a fight. Real Madrid have shown lots of vulnerability at the back lately, as the stats tell us that they have kept just one clean sheet in their last five, having conceded even against Espanyol in the last weekend.

We are pretty certain Liverpool will score at some point, as even if their season has been full of ups and downs, they have found the net regularly. Let’s not forget they scored seven against United and two against Real in the first leg. So backing both teams to score in a highly entertaining tie fits our script and is our second selection.

Selection 3: Real Madrid to win

I think we will see the ‘Liverpool Champions League spirit’ tonight as well, but I don’t think this match will be remembered as much as the one in Istanbul or the second leg against Barcelona. Let’s be realistic; this team is not at the same level of confidence as the two mentioned above and is likely to go home at the end of tonight’s game. Real deserved to win at Anfield, and at home they have a very strong record, with only Barcelona having been able to defeat them in any competition.

As the minutes pass by and the mission becomes even more impossible, it is likely that the Blancos will find the goal that puts them ahead, as they are lethal on the break, and this tie looks perfect for Ancelotti’s style of play. And don’t forget Ancelotti was the Milan manager that night in Istanbul, so he will always be motivated to see Liverpool go out in the Champions League!
