Main Bet: Austin Smotherman To Win

Our pick for this tournament is Austin Smotherman, who is available at a very interesting price. He finished 67th at Waialae in January and has since gone on to record four missed cuts in a row. Although this is not a good sign, it is worth noting that those four fields were significantly more skilled than this week, and Smotherman demonstrated that he should be on the rise in the last two events. In the last round at Riviera, he ranked third in the field for approach play, and it was only his driving and short game that prevented him from rising further.

After all, he missed the cut only by two strokes, and in round one, he demonstrated that he was skilled with the irons. A similar story was told at the Phoenix Open, where he missed the cut due to a poor game on and around the greens. The way he played off the tee and on the approach in these two tournaments are good signs, and we should expect a big improvement here since the field is weaker.
