Other Contenders

With the financial boost from recent player sales and compensations, they have the resources for a significant pre-season overhaul. Their new manager, Neill Collins, brings in fresh strategies and, coupled with the team’s ambition, Barnsley seems well-positioned for a promotion-winning season.

The Top Six Finale – Portsmouth: While Portsmouth are likely to fight for the top spot, I think a safer bet is to back them to finish in the top six. With six consecutive top-ten finishes, the team’s consistency is unquestionable. Last season, they remained unbeaten in their last 11 games, which indicates their resilience and ability to compete against the top teams in the league.
Their squad, with players like Marlon Pack, Joe Morrell, and top scorer Colby Bishop, is poised to give a tough competition to any opponent. A top-six finish, while falling short of a championship win, would still signify a successful season for Portsmouth, and could set them up for further success in the future.
