As soon as we saw the price on Francesco Laporta we were very intrigued as we believe there is excellent value. At this time of year, it makes sense to look for these golfers who have high motivations as they risk losing their cards or golfers that are very keen to end the season on a high.
After spending most of his 20s in the lower level, he finally got the opportunity to secure a European Tour card. And in the last season, he was leading the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship halfway and was in the top 10 of the Saudi International a week later. Eventually, he only managed to get a couple of top 20s, but that still was huge progress on the previous decade and also closed the 2020 season tied second in the first edition of the Golf in Dubai Championship. In the second part of the season, he also secured an impressive fourth place in the Irish Open and another fourth place at the Italian Open. At the BMW PGA Championship, he was the leader after 54 holes and eventually ended up tied sixth. Finally, in the Portugal Masters last week, he finished tied seventh.
If we consider the excellent form in the United Arab Emirates the last term, the course form and the positive efforts made in the previous few months, it is a no brainer to back him at this huge price.

Each Way Bet: Guido Migliozzi
Our each-way bet is another Italian, Guido Migliozzi, who went very close to securing his third European Tour win in the desert earlier this season. He will be keen to complete the job this week. He also recorded a tied fourth at the US Open, tied 13th in the Travelers Championship, and seventh in the European Masters. This week’s course should suit him well as he has played good golf in Dubai and Saudi and the second place in Qatar, and fourth place in the Oman Open. So he surely loves to play desert golf and is definitely worth an each-way punt at this price.
