Aston Villa to avoid defeat against Newcastle. Despite Newcastle’s impressive home record last season, including a 4-0 victory over Villa pre-Unai Emery era, the landscape has dramatically changed since.

Emery has ushered in a significant upswing in Villa’s fortunes, enhancing their competitive edge. Concurrently, while Newcastle has made progress under Eddie Howe and is bolstered by big-money summer signings, their continuity-focused approach under the current owners does not assure an immediate impact.

Considering Villa’s resurgence and the uncertainties in Newcastle’s adaptation to their new signings, the possibility of Villa pulling off a win or securing a draw on opening day holds significant weight.

An evenly contested match-up between Chelsea and Liverpool could be on the cards for the opening weekend. Liverpool’s road struggles last season could well continue in this first part of the season, especially in this first trip to London. The addition of Alexis Mac Allister, a promising midfield talent, might be a game-changer yet it might take some time for the Argentine to adapt to Klopp’s ideas.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, despite their massive spending spree, might be grappling with a new manager’s philosophy and an overflowing squad that might still lack a formidable striker. This potential vulnerability, especially against Liverpool’s potent offense, sets the stage for a potentially exciting showdown.

Despite Liverpool’s away woes, I don’t see Chelsea winning and considering both sides’ strengths and uncertainties, a draw could very well be a realistic outcome in this high-profile opener.

Best bet – Draw

Following a turbulent relegation struggle, Crystal Palace managed to secure their safety in the league last season, thanks to the return of Roy Hodgson. However, they could face a stern test in their 2023/24 opener against Sheffield United.

Uncertainty surrounds the managerial future at Palace, which can pose a challenge heading into the new season. The Eagles found solace in their home ground performances during the last campaign, so commencing the season away from home might prove tricky.

On the other hand, Sheffield United, fresh from their Championship promotion, had a commendable home record, winning 16 out of 23 matches at Bramall Lane. Therefore, an opening-day victory for the Blades could be a promising bet, considering these factors.

Best bet – Sheffield United to Win

Despite the speculation that Tottenham might struggle initially under Ange Postecoglou, it’s essential to remember that Spurs have a history of bouncing back and making significant strides as the season progresses. Their transfer dealings, under the watchful eye of Daniel Levy, tend to pick up pace later in the window, bringing in reinforcements when needed.

Their season opener is set against Brentford, a team that capitalized on Manchester United’s early hiccups last season. However, it’s unlikely that history will repeat itself with a 4-0 victory for the Bees. Tottenham, with their renowned resilience and potential to strengthen their squad, could surprise many by notching a win, turning the odds in their favor as the season unfolds.

Best bet – Tottenham to Win

While West Ham triumphed in the Europa Conference League last season, their Premier League campaign was notably challenging. This, coupled with the anticipated departure of star player Declan Rice, might slightly unsettle the team ahead of their opener against Bournemouth.

Despite their impressive first season in the top flight, Bournemouth’s 39 points perhaps flatter their performance, hinting at a challenging second season. This, along with West Ham’s squad full of quality, can set the stage for an intriguing clash.

In light of these factors, predicting an outright winner becomes challenging. Hence, a draw might be a potential outcome for this fixture, considering both sides’ equal potential to either rise to the occasion or falter under the pressure and might welcome starting by avoiding a defeat.

Best bet – Draw

Erik Ten Hag’s initial season at Manchester United saw him extract an impressive performance from the team, a momentum expected to roll into their first-round face-off against Wolves.

United’s remarkable end to the last season with four consecutive Premier League victories demonstrates their potential, especially with plans to strengthen their team to better compete in the Champions League.

On the other hand, Wolves may head into the new season without key playmaker Ruben Neves. The multiple transformations envisaged at Molineux cast a shadow of uncertainty on the team’s initial performances under Julen Lopetegui.

Given United’s impressive streak of 30 home games without defeat since last September, they look poised to kick off the new season on a positive note, potentially at Wolves’ expense.

Best bet –  Manchester United to Win
