Union Saint Gilloise To Win vs Union Berlin & Both Teams To Score

Can Royale Union SG progress to the next round of the competition and make history? Well, they probably can after they were able to draw the first leg 3-3 in Germany and on the back of the great form they have had at the Joseph Marien Stadium this season so far. Karel Geraerts’ men have scored in 20 of 21 matches this term, with only three defeats, and they might be smelling blood after Union Berlin failed to make the most of their home advantage in the first leg.

The Germans, who have had a great season at the top of the Bundesliga, seem to be going through a difficult patch now as they have only been able to win one of the last seven matches played in all competitions. This is not the record you want to bring to Belgium, although they will be confident that they can find the back of the net at some point since they have drawn a blank on only three occasions in the ten trips they have made. We expect another lively affair with both teams scoring, but the momentum is now with the home side, who should be able to edge this and make history.

Under 1.5 Goals in Freiburg vs Juventus

Freiburg have been impressive at home this season, and they are coming into this match on the back of 11 games unbeaten, of which they have won eight of those. Max Allegri knows these stats very well and will likely make adjustments to his team with the clear intention of defending the only goal they were able to score in Turin in the first leg. With The Old Lady likely to miss Federico Chiesa, Leonardo Bonucci, and maybe even their star player, Angel Di Maria, who scored four goals in this competition, you can expect their attacking abilities to be seriously reduced.

Freiburg will be pushing forward more and more during the game, but they don’t even have to go all out in attack as they only need a goal to get back into this tie, and having scored in all but one of their home games, they surely stand a chance to do so at some point. We therefore expect a rather blocked affair that might well end goalless or with one goal for either of the two contenders, which makes the under 1.5 goal option extremely valuable.

Draw – Real Sociedad (-1) vs Roma

Real Sociedad will need to push forward from the start to go back into this tie as Roma have two goals advantage. Imanol Alguacil’s are a solid team, despite lacking a bit of firepower in attack, having scored just once in their last four matches in all competitions. Add to this the fact that Mourinho will probably set Roma defensively, hoping to manage the lead and secure the pass to the next round.

Roma have been pretty inconsistent on the road as they are winless in the last three and have drawn once in the period. Real Sociedad have won three of their last six at home, so a win from Real Sociedad in 90 minutes looks likely, although it is unlikely that they will win by more than the minimal margin.

Draw and Both Teams to Score in Arsenal vs Sporting

As we predicted last week, Sporting pushed Arsenal all the way in Lisbon, and the end result was an entertaining 2-2 draw. Everything is therefore open in the return game, and Arteta will have the difficult task of also thinking ahead to the Premier League, which is the priority, and to the home clash with Crystal Palace next Sunday.

Although we don’t anticipate too many changes, Arsenal are likely to struggle to keep a clean sheet against a Sporting Lisbon side that has demonstrated that it is well capable of scoring goals. Amorim’s men have also scored in all four of their away trips in Europe this term, and with Arteta’s side being full of goals themselves, backing both teams to score looks valuable in a tie that might need the extra time to be decided.
