Main Bet: Nick Taylor To Win
My pick for this week is Nick Taylor. In 2020, the Canadian won by a whopping four shots after holding off Mickelson down the stretch and extending his lead.
Although a surprise, it wasn’t a big one. He finished in the top 45 at the 2019 US Open at Pebble Beach and finished 10th in 2017, 28th in 2019, and Taylor finished last year with a score of 69-70-69-69 to place fourteenth while defending in 2021. His game is obviously a perfect match for Pebble.
Based on how he has done this season, we can expect another important week on the Monterey Peninsula. Taylor finished eighth in the last Sony Open and sixth in the Fortinet at Silverado, a short course in California with Poa Annua on the greens (short and coastal). Taylor has course form, and this is what really matters, so we are backing him at this high price.
