It will not be easy for him as we have a competitive field at Eastbourne, with eight of the top 28 world’s players taking part in this event. A much better bet looks to be Sebastian Korda, who lost in Halle’s second round to Pablo Carreno Busta. If we exclude that defeat, he has proven that he is adapting well to grass, having reached the fourth round of Wimbledon on his debut last season after reaching the semis as a junior. His game suits well to this surface, and in a draw that doesn’t seem too tricky, he can make a realistic bid to land his second career title.

Daniil Medvedev, who will not feature at Wimbledon, is back to the Mallorca Championship to defend the title he conquered last year. However, his price looks very short, considering that he is not entirely at home on this surface. In the previous two weeks, he has lost in finals in both Stuttgart and Halle, despite being a firm favourite, so backing him so short doesn’t look the best way to go.

A much better alternative looks to be Tallon Griekspoor, who is in a rather weak second quarter. However, the Dutchman is acquiring experience on grass, and in the last two weeks, he has managed to record a few impressive wins and some narrow defeats against strong favourites. Considering the favourable draw, it makes sense to back him to go all the way, and you can make a call whether to cash out as the tournament progresses. One of the seeds in his section is Miomir Kecmanovic, which is not irresistible on grass, and the first round will be against Feliciano Lopez, who seems to have past his best. All in all an excellent opportunity for the number 61 in the World to improve his confidence and ranking.
