Ruusuvuori also made a name for himself in other fast places in 2022. He made it to the quarterfinals at Queen’s Club, the semifinals in Stockholm, and, most importantly, the semifinals in Melbourne in the first week of the season, where Rafael Nadal had to stop him. I’m glad to back him at 7/1 because he gets a first-round bye and just needs to win four games to win the championship.
In the quarterfinals he is likely to face Filip Krajinovic, who has been out of action since the US Open due to injury and might need sometime to get back to top form. Botic van de Zandschulp is the only player that can cause some real problems. He is a threat because he made it to the final in Munich last year at high altitude and did well on grass. However, the Dutchman was disappointing in last few months. Van de Zandschulp and Ruusuvuori have met on grass twice, with Ruusuvuori holding a small edge.
