Main Bet: Andy Sullivan

This is a new tournament and a new course, so we don’t have historical data to base our analysis upon. The course is the stunning Pecanwood G&CC created by Jack Nicklaus’s team. Distance control should be a critical factor here and our first pick for this week is Englishman Andy Sullivan, who has done well on Nicklaus tracks and played excellent golf in South Africa. Sullivan didn’t have a positive Desert Swing, but last time he played on a Nicklaus course, he finished tied 13th at the London Club. He also won the English Championship at Hanbury Manor and did well at both Gut Larchenhof and Muirfield Village. In South Africa, he won at Royal Johannesburg and Glendower at altitude, and at this price, it looks value to back him to go all the way this week.

Bland (Each-Way) To Win

Each Way Bet: Richard Bland

We have picked another Englishman, Richard Bland, for our each-way bet. Bland finished seventh in the Joburg Open and second at the Dunhill Championship in late 2020 and has been pretty impressive in the last few months. He won in the British Masters and has since recorded nine top 10 finishes, including a defeat at the playoff in January. Two of these results were achieved at Nicklaus designs as he was fourth in the Irish Open at Mount Juliet and third in the Cazoo Classic at the London Club. Considering the high price, it makes sense to back him to be at least in contention this week.
