Match Preview & Team News

The Owls struggled for consistency throughout the entire season in the previous term of the Championship, but they’ve enjoyed a stellar spell of form in the very finish of the campaign under the new manager Steve Bruce. Bruce left the team this summer and Sheffield Wednesday looked destined for another subpar campaign with caretaker manager Lee Bullen in charge.

Nonetheless, the Scottish manager managed to inspire the team in the pre-season as the Owls are one of just two sides with the maximum 6-point record after two rounds of the competition. They bagged five goals in back-to-back wins over Reading and Barnsley. Bullen’s troops won three and drew one of last four if we count friendlies and they’ve notched at least two goals in each of outings in the process. Can they maintain such brilliant run on Saturday when they visit the capital for the Millwall clash at The Den?

The hosts have something to build on as well, following a streak of two wins and one draw in last three games in all competitions. Their rock-solid defence will be quite a big challenge for the Owls as the Lions allowed just two goals in the last three matches in spite of playing attacking-minded WBA on two occasions along the way.

Neil Harris’ side kept a clean sheet in the lone home fixture of the season as they saw off Preston North End 1-0 on the opening Matchday. Knowing that the Owls have also been fairly tough to break down at the start of the campaign, we can hardly imagine a high-scoring scenario on Saturday afternoon at The Den.

Full Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Both teams will come into this on a high and we see the draw as the most likable of three outcomes. You can back it at the odds of 2/1.

Goals Market Prediction

Teams shared spoils in a goalless draw when they last met each other in February at The Den. The Under 2.5 goals FT thus looks like a banker bet at 8/13.
