Match Preview & Team News

Iceland host France in a very important 7th round fixture on Friday evening. The hosts are desperate for a result against the world champions who share the top of the Group H standings with Turkey. Les Bleus and Turkey have both won five and lost one of six games so far and these two likes sit three points clear off third-placed Iceland.

The hosts’ ambitions of making it to EURO 2020 suffered a huge blow a month ago when they fell 4-2 away in Albania. It was their second defeat of the campaign. The first came in the second-round fixture against France (4-0 in Paris).

France fell to Turkey 2-0 in June, but they went on to win three successive games against minnows Andorra (twice) and Albania. Kylian Mbappe, Olivier Giroud, and Kingsley Coman bagged three goals each so far for Les Bleus. PSG’s star will, however, skip the international duty through slight injury.

Didier Deschamps will thus be without a host of high-profile attackers if we know the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Alexandre Lacazette, and Anthony Martial are also all unavailable. France have struggled for goals in recent away ties as they failed to find the back of the net in three of the last five away fixtures in all competitions (counting UEFA Nations League affairs against the Netherlands and Germany).

Iceland have won each of three home qualifiers and we have reasons to expect them to provide a strong effort against the world champions here.

Full Time Winner Odds & Prediction

The visitors will be without important options in the final third here. We will back Iceland not to lose by two or more goals difference as the main betting option at the odds of 8/13.

Half Time Market Prediction

The alternative pick will be draw at the half time at 13/10 as we expect Iceland to keep it a tight affair on the home soil.
