Following an 11/2 place yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Wednesday 11th September. P&L +32.11pts.
4:15 Listowel- Yorkhill 7/1 (1pt)
It was great to see Yorkhill return to winning ways at Galway at a track which wouldn’t have suited him. On previous novice chase form including when winning the JLT Chase at Cheltenham and achieving a rating of 164 he should be chucked in off a mark of 154.
Yorkhill runs here off top weight but if his victory last time out has rebuilt his confidence then he should prove extremely hard to beat.
4:45 Doncaster- Willie John 9/4 (1pt)
The Roger Varian stable won this race in 2016 and 2017 and hold strong claims with Willie John in the race this year. He was bought for a staggering 1,900,000gns in February 2018 following his debut win and ran to a career best on his penultimate start at Goodwood in a listed race behind subsequent Group 2 winner Elarqam off level weights.
Willie John can be excused his run down the field at Royal Ascot and if he can replicate the form of his run at Goodwood then he should be able to upset the favourite.
