Following a blank day yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Saturday 28th September. P&L +18.58pts.
3:40 Newmarket- Lord North 15/2 (0.5pt ew)
John Gosden won the Cambridgeshire Handicap last year with the three year old Wissahickon and I think he has a fantastic chance this year with Lord North. He has only ran four times in his career so far with wins in his first two in novice races. Despite finishing last in the Heron Stakes at Sandown, he was a huge eyecatcher having been hampered and eased late on.
Lord North finished second on handicap debut last time at Ascot beaten only half a length by a well handicapped track specialist and he should hold strong claims off the same mark with up to eight places available.
4:20 Curragh- Kastasa 15/8 (4pt)
This race revolves around the Aidan O’Brien trained Capri who in my opinion is completely out of love with the game. He hasn’t won since April 2018 and was beaten twice at 5/4 and 9/10 this season in Group 3 and listed races. He is worth taking on with the progressive three year old filly Kastasa who has won her last three starts in handicaps.
Kastasa won the prestigious Petingo Handicap at Leopardstown last time and is well worthy of her rating of 98. In receipt of weight for age and sex then she should be able to upset Capri who now has a questionable attitude.
