Following an 11/2 place yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races at Hereford on Monday 4th November. P&L +19.00pts.
2:20 Hereford- Onthefrontfoot 5/1 (0.5pt ew)
Onthefrontfoot is one of the most experienced in the field having won a PTP and a bumper last season and two novice hurdles this season. He won at Ayr in May before following up under a penalty easily at Cartmel later that month.
Onthefrontfoot was well fancied to make a winning return at Stratford but was far too keen and eventually weakened into 3rd after 2 out. Connections have fitted him with a hood for this race which can hopefully make him settle and if he does then he should prove hard to beat despite a double penalty.
3:20 Hereford- Champion Chase 7/1 (0.5pt ew)
Champion Chase is still a maiden after 18 attempts but should hit the frame once again in this race. He has finished 2nd over fences five times off marks of 92, 92, 94, 89 and 88 and runs here off a mark of 86.
Champion Chase ran well to finish 4th on his reappearance when getting tired after making a mistake 2 out and with fitness on his side then hopefully that will be enough for him to get off the mark at the 19th attempt. If not, bookmakers are offering four places each way on the race and he looks sure to fill the placings.
