Following a disappointing day yesterday, Steve Ryder previews four races on Saturday 22nd February. P&L +0.67pts.
3:15 Lingfield- Dalgano 33/1 (0.5pt ew)
Dalgarno won a listed race in Deauville on the AW in November and has ran with credit on his last two starts over this C&D. He finished behind Dubai Warrior and Court House in December when giving those rivals 5lb and 3lb before finishing behind Bangkok and Court House giving them both 3lb last time.
Dalgarno was held up last time and had to make headway wide on the turn so should have finished a lot closer and with them all now racing off level weights, he could run into a place at a big price.
3:27 Fairyhouse- Walk Me Home 14/1 (0.25pt ew)
With the form of 000, Walk Me Home isn’t the easiest to make a case for but you would imagine connections have had an eye on handicaps from the start. She is closely related to Ilikedwayurthinkin who progressed from an opening handicap mark of 108 and progressed to being rated 132 in only four runs.
Walk Me Home steps up in trip from 2 miles in maiden hurdles to 2m4f on handicap debut and she could make a mockery of her opening mark of 92.
4:02 Fairyhouse- Alpha Des Obeaux 7/4 (2pt)
The Bobbyjo Chase this season looks like Alpha Des Obeaux against Willie Mullins as he fields four runners against him. Those runners include Bellshill and Voix Du Reve who have both been badly out of form this season and preference goes to the Gordon Elliott trained runner.
The main target of the season for Alpha Des Obeaux will be the Grand National at Aintree but now the weights are out he can contest winnable races. He has ran well on all three starts so far this season where he finished 2nd in a Grade 3 at Punchestown, 3rd in the Grade 1 Champion Chase at Down Royal before finishing 3rd off top weight in the Becher Handicap Chase at Aintree. Now in receipt of 10lb from the out of form Bellshill, Alpha Des Obeaux should prove extremely hard to beat.
7:00 Chelmsford- Cash N Carrie 4/1 (0.5pt ew)
It is rare that a horse can manage to run so well from a wide draw at Chelmsford but that is what Cash N Carrie did last time over C&D from Stall 15. He finished second beaten under two lengths off a mark of 48 and now gets to race here off only 1lb higher.
Cash N Carrie has a much more favourable draw in Stall 6 and therefore should be hard to kick out the frame off a mark of 49.
