Following a blank day yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races at Haydock on Saturday 15th February. P&L -5.35pts.
1:30 Haydock- Caribean Boy 13/2 (1pt)
Despite being a small field, this looks a competitive race and a chance is given to Caribean Boy now he diverts to this race with Wincanton being abandoned. He was off for 632 days before an encouraging comeback at Doncaster last month where he finished 3rd behind The Big Bite.
Caribean Boy was keen through the early stages of the race but jumped brilliantly before just looking to need the run late on. He will have no doubt progressed fitness wise and should outrun his odds off a mark of 138.
4:25 Haydock- Ramses De Teille 11/8 (1pt)
Ramses De Teille has no doubt surprised connections with how well he has performed back over hurdles this season and is now 2/2 in that code this season. He has previous from at the course on heavy ground when 2nd in the Grand National Trial on the card last year off a mark of 149 showing this track and ground hold no concerns.
Ramses De Teille was an impressive winner of the River Don Novices’ Hurdle at Doncaster last time when he won by 17 lengths and despite having to concede a Grade 2 penalty, he should be hard to beat.
