Following a couple of close finishes yesterday, Steve Ryder previews three races on Saturday 5th October. P&L +24.56pts.
2:50 Newmarket- White Moonlight 3/1 (2pt)
White Moonlight made a winning debut at Kempton in September when sent off 9/4 favourite. She was slowly into stride that day but made good headway to lead at the finish to win by a short head. The form of the race hasn’t been tested since but it looked good and she can hopefully defy a penalty.
White Moonlight won her debut over 7f and this step up to a mile looks sure to suit so she should take some beating.
3:40 Ascot- Thrilla In Manila 40/1 (0.5pt ew)
Thrilla In Manila was well regarded and all set to run in the Greenham Stakes this season before injury ruled him out. He won well on debut at Newbury when keen and green in rear before staying on strongly to win by just under a length.
It seems interesting that they have brought Thrilla In Manila back to run at the end of the season rather than calling stumps and he looks worth chancing at huge odds.
4:35 Longchamp- Call The Wind 9/2 (2pt ew)
Call The Wind won the Prix du Cadran last season to complete an end of season hat-trick. He hasn’t won since but has ran well in France and Meydan to place in the likes of the Dubai Gold Cup and Prix Kergorlay.
Call The Wind faces Dee Ex Bee who will have slight question marks about the ground and wouldn’t be one I would trust at short odds. Call The Wind looks a rock solid each way selection in the race and can hopefully upset the short priced favourite.
