Following a disappointing day yesterday, Steve Ryder bids to bounce back by previewing two races at Kelso on Sunday 12th January. P&L -26.5pts.
12:50 Kelso- Well Above Par 9/1 (0.5pt ew)
Well Above Par won his only start at Kelso which was back in November when he won over C&D off a mark of 112. He made all that day under Thomas Willmott by seven lengths and was deserving of a 9lb rise in the handicap as a result.
Well Above Par disappointed on his next start at Newcastle off that mark but has been dropped 2lb for that effort and should make a bold bid from the front again off a mark of 119.
3:00 Kelso- Big River 4/1 (3pt)
There has been a couple of early non runners this morning but that makes me even more confident of another course success for Big River. He has form figures of 112111B at Kelso in his career and he was still travelling extremely well last time when brought down towards the finish.
The first time cheekpieces appeared to do the trick last time for Big River who often races off the bridle and if they do the same today then he should prove extremely hard to beat off a mark of 137 (has been rated at a high of 144).
