Handicap Betting Tips: Our 3/1 Saturday Acca

Betting on football is exciting, however, sometimes there are matches where one of the team is far too strong to expect a realistic upset. Odds on favourites are far too short of providing any value. Betting on handicaps is the solution as you can get decent odds by backing that a team will win despite starting the match with one or two goals less. In this way, even the most one-sided affair can become exciting, and our experts have taken this to a new level and built a handicap acca, made with two or more of those selections. Enjoy the acca below and good luck! Always remember to gamble responsibly. See at the bottom of the page for more info.

What is Handicap Betting?

Handicap betting is a way that bookmaker use to make sporting events more even. The way it works is that bookmakers are giving one selection in an event a ‘handicap’. That team is the favourite and will have to overcome the ‘handicap’ to win. So let’s imagine for instance that Barcelona are playing against Accrington Stanley. Surely the Catalans will be expected to win easily, and odds on them would be in the region of 1/40, while Accrington will be at 40/1. This makes minimal appeal from a betting perspective, right? To make things more interesting, the bookmaker will give Barcelona and handicap of 3 goals. To win your bet, the Catalans would have to win with at least 3 goals margin, but if they do so, you will get odds which will be around even.

What are Handicap betting accumulator?

Handicap betting accumulator are becoming more and more popular. They are building by merely putting together more handicap selections. This allows for higher returns, and our experts are picking teams that are in excellent form in addition to be the favourites and that have the motivations to win with ample margins.

What Sports Can Handicaps Be Used For?

Undoubtedly the most popular use of the handicap bets is on football, but there are many other sports where the handicap market can be applied to make things more interesting from a betting perspective.

  • Rugby – similarly to football, one of the two teams will start with points advantage in this case. Given the point-scoring nature of rugby, the points handicap are greater.
  • Golf – lots of bookmakers, do also provide place handicaps on players rounds. For instance, the best players get +3 shots.
  • Tennis – even in Tennis handicaps market are popular. The Handicap, in this case, can be applied to the sets or the games. When the Handicap is applied to games, all the matches’ games will be counted to find the final result, which might not always match with the real winner of the encounter.

What is Asian Handicap Betting?

Asian handicap betting is the name for handicap betting that is used on football. The reason why it is called Asian is that this type of betting is trendy in Asia. Asian Handicap aims to bring both teams to an equal ground where they have the same chance of winning, which is why you will find odds to be very close to evens for both the teams.

What is a successful Handicap Betting Strategy?

Let’s say immediately that, unfortunately, in betting and gambling there isn’t a strategy that can be successful all the time. This also applies to handicap betting but having said that, some improvements can be made with experience and also some recommendations that should be followed to increase the chances of success. The most important thing is to be cautious, especially if you are approaching the handicap betting markets for the first time. Learning is key, and placing small stakes will reduce the risk of burning your betting budget before making some experience. Another essential piece of advice is to shop around for the best odds. Although most bookmakers are offering handicap markets nowadays, it doesn’t mean that they are providing the same value. After all, this remains a niche betting market, so we do see significant odds variations between the different operators. By ensuring you are betting with the best possible odds, you will increase your returns significantly from winning bets over time. It is also crucial to study team’s scoring records: when betting on handicap, you need goals to be scored so that the handicap spread can be covered, and by looking at the stats, you can identify which are the teams that are most likely to deliver. Finally, always consider form and motivation, though, as most teams tend to disappoint when they are, for instance, towards the end of the season with little to play for.
