18:15 – Jose De Sousa v James Wade Betting Tips
A great tournament will come to an end tonight with the final between impressive Jose De Sousa and tenacious James Wade. This is the first final for Portuguese De Sousa who is 46 years old and shows well how it is never too late in darts to reach excellent results.
He has only won his PDC tour card back in January 2019 and since then has been remarkably consistent winning two ranking titles last year and landing the European Darts Grand Prix earlier in 2020. As a consequence, he has moved up rapidly in the rankings, and he is now the number 34 in the world. In this tournament, he has never dropped below the average of 95 and has always been around the 100 marks.
He has reached this final after defeating Simon Whitlock without problems. The final 16-12 was relatively stress-free, with the Portuguese that looked relaxed throughout.
Wade is 37 years old and even if he is younger than his opponent has already acquired colossal experience. Over his career, he won several major titles but most of those when he was in his twenties. Last time he won a major title was the World Series of Darts in 2018. He has lost two finals in the Grand Slam of Darts so the world number eight will be motivated to land this tournament finally.
Wade had to hold his nerves in the semifinal against Dimitri van den Bergh which he edged for 16-15. The Belgian played better, but Wade kept himself in the game and eventually the pressure was too much to handle for Van den Bergh.
Looking at the odds, De Sousa is the slight underdog, and in our opinion, there is value in this price. Both those two players have been consistent in this event, but De Sousa has looked more reliable and has had a higher average. De Sousa will also be a lot fresher as his semifinal was relatively comfortable. Backing De Sousa to deliver again looks the value here, and it is our choice.
