With the first two rounds played several weeks ago, we are now down to the last 32 at the German Masters. The line up will not have, as a result, the likes of O’Sullivan, Robertson, Bingtao, Allen, Selby and Wilson. Considering that this title looks Trumps’ for the taking, as long as he will not be too rusty after the illness. This will also be his first match since performing in the World Open final before Christmas, so not much value on him to be honest.
Trump has been drawn in the toughest section as well, and will likely to take on Ding Junhui or Stephen Maguire in the quarter-final. Both those too players have done well at The Masters, but they do lack in consistency. Maguire has defeated Trump in their last match and also claimed a big scalp in Selby at The Masters so can well go deep in this tournament as well.
As far as the winner is concerned though, we fancy John Higgins. Without doubt, the Wizard of Wishaw is in the declining part of his career but has started 2021 in better form than anyone else and did very well in both the Championship League and The Masters. He also tends to be reliable against inferior players. He can get a relatively easy path to the final and land the German Masters after missing out the prior major in the last stretch.
If you are looking for longer odds, you might also take a look at Zhou Yuelong. This player is improving at a considerable rate, and this could be a tournament where he could cause a huge upset.
