The PGA Tour will make his way to the outskirts of Los Angeles for the Genesis Invitational that will take place at Riviera Country Club. This famous course has hosted top-tier golf events in the last nine decades and this tournament, from 2020, has been upgraded to invitational status.

There has been a reduction in field size from 144 to 120, and the prize money has been upped from $7.4 to $9.3m. This is now an event similar in prestige to the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill and The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. Our golf betting experts have previewed this tournament below and offer their best golf betting tips. Make sure to take advantage of the best odds that will be highlighted below and also the best offers from leading bookmakers in the UK.

Garcia can deliver in this course

Without any doubts, Riviera is surely a Sergio Garcia’s course as he has secured here two top fours (in 2012 and 2015), a sixth place (2007) and seven top 25s in the 12 times has played here. Sergio will be trying new equipment this week, but everything is apparently working very well. He was solid off the tee in his three tournaments in the Middle East and was sixth in The Saudi International last time out where he also ranked second for SG: Approach. He was also tied-23 in Dubai and tied-8 in Abu Dhabi. So, overall, he is looking very sharp.

Garcia is in good shape

The Spaniard is in great form and has been in the world’s top 100 for more than 20 years now. He is currently 41st and has had a very good start of the year, so he will be motivated to press the accelerator in a course where he loves to play. We are tipping him to continue his promising start and get another win for Europe after Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell.

Our Verdict: Sergio Garcia To Win The Genesis Invitational

Sung-Hoon Kang represents a massive each-way value here

The South Koreans have had a great week in Los Angeles with ‘Parasite’ as it was the first non-English language to win Best Picture at The Oscars, and maybe Sung-Hoon Kang can also make proud his country on Sunday.

If you are starting to worry that we are tipping a player, due to The Oscars performances, let’s explain why we are going with him in more details. 13 of the last 16 winners at Riviera had already secured a top 15 at the course. Also, 13 of the last 14 champions have been playing at this tournament at least five times. Kang has played here five times, and has been enjoying itself all the times with a run of 8-22-16 from 2016 to 2018. He has also made the cut every time he has been performing.

Kang has also performed well recently. He was tied 16th at the Farmers Insurance Open and was in the top three with 18 left to play. That performance was delivered on Poa Annua grass, which is the same surface that is used this week. In addition to that, the Kikuya from tee to green at Riviera, which is not used frequently in the US, it is used in Korea.

Kang was also capable of scoring a 60 at Monterey Peninsula in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, so surely has what it takes to play good golf on the West Coast.

The 32-year-old South Korean has landed the AT&T Byron Nelson in the last season and was also seventh in the 2019 PGA Championship. He has been able to make six of his seven cuts in majors and ranked in the top 25% for Driving Distance. At 200/1 shot looks an incredible each-way value and we will be faithful! After all, is the week of Koreans winning in Los Angeles!

Our Verdict: Sung-Hoon Kang (Each Way) To Win The Genesis Invitational
