Friday 18th August Horse Racing Tips

Steve Ryder has four e/w selections in races on Friday 18th August. P&L -2.31pts.

2:20 Wolverhampton- Indian Affair 4/1 (1pt ew)

Indian Affair is a model of consistency at Wolverhampton having been placed off marks as high of 70 in the past. He runs off a mark of 65 in this race and is due to go up 2lb after the weekend so runs in this race ‘well in’ at the weights. To further boost his chances, Luke Morris who has a superb record on the AW, takes over from Kerrie Raybould in the saddle. The other horses at the top of the market are all tumbling down the handicap but that is because they are all running poorly so at an e/w price Indian Affair is a confident selection to hit the frame.

2:40 Newbury- Pursuing Steed 6/1 (1pt ew)

Pursuing Speed comes into the race attempting a five timer for Hughie Morrison and Charlie Bennett. He has progressed quickly through the handicap in four races from a mark of 57 and now runs of a rating of 79. He has been staying on well in his races over 7f so the step up to a mile should counter his 3lb increase in the weights. He has a course win to his name and looks very solid in a race offering e/w terms of 4 places.

3:35 Nottingham- Dawaaleeb 10/3 ew (2pt ew)

This race looks a two horse race and with the poor form of the Roger Varian stable (1 winner from 35 runners) and the fact that Sharja Bridge was beaten at 2/7 last time, I think it is worth backing Dawaaleeb to upset the favourite. Dawaaleeb has run two solid races at Newmarket over a mile and his only disappointment was when not getting the trip over 1m2f at Wetherby on his second start. He looks sure to lead in this race and given Sharja Bridge has a questionable attitude to go past leaders, he looks a superb each way bet against the favourite, albeit not quite a ‘bet to nothing’ price.

5:35 Tramore- Old Supporter 4/1 ew (1pt ew)

Old Supporter won this race in 2015 and comes into the race in fantastic form for a 12 year old. Other than his success in this race, he has brilliant form at Tramore having won twice and placed on his other two starts at the venue. Before his success over C&D last time he won two point to points and his 5lb rise in the handicap is negated by the 7lb claim of Barry Browne. This race has no doubt been his target for a while and he looks very solid to run well over C&D once again.
